Trug: PDF & Image Toolkit is an iPhone app for the jobs you keep needing a website for. Every file is processed on the device. The app contains no networking code at all — there is no account, no analytics, no ads, and nothing is collected.

Trug is being submitted to the App Store and is not available yet. It will be free to download once it is released.

Right there in the share sheet
Trug ships a Share Extension, so you can act on a file you are already holding. Share a PDF or photo from Files, Photos or Mail, pick Trug, and convert, compress or OCR it without switching apps.

Convert, resize, compress
Convert between PDFs and images and from HEIC to JPEG, shrink files that are too big to send, and resize images to the dimensions you need.

Merge and split PDFs
Combine several PDFs into one, or pull a document apart into the pages you actually want.

OCR and searchable PDFs
Recognise the text in scans and photos, and make searchable PDFs with that text embedded, so a scanned page can be searched and copied from.

Images to PDF
Turn a set of images into one PDF, with the pages in the order you want, at the page size and fit you choose.

Rotate, crop, strip EXIF
Fix sideways pages, crop to what matters, and remove EXIF metadata such as location from photos before you share them.

Privacy
The app has no networking code, and its build fails if any is added. There is no account and no analytics, and nothing about you is collected. Files you process stay on your device, where you save them.

- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up and no login. Nothing is collected about you at all.
- Does it work with no internet connection?
- Yes, entirely. Converting, compressing, merging, splitting and OCR all run on your iPhone. The app contains no networking code, so it never needs a connection.
- Where are my files?
- On your device, wherever you save them. Trug works on the files you give it and hands the results back to you; it does not upload or keep copies anywhere else.
- How do I use Trug from the share sheet?
- In Photos, Files, Mail or any app that can share a PDF or image, tap the share button and choose Trug. If it is not in the list, scroll to the end of the app row, tap More and turn Trug on. You can then convert, compress or OCR the file you are already holding without opening Trug first.
- Where can I download it?
- On the App Store once it is released. It is free.
