What Spanner stores
Spanner saves the vehicles you add, the service records you log against them, your odometer readings, reminders, fuel entries and any receipt photos you attach, in a database on your phone.
None of it is created on, or synced through, a server. It stays in the app's own storage on the device it was entered on.

Photos you attach
If you attach a receipt or a photo of paperwork, Spanner asks for access to your camera or photo library at that moment. The image is copied into Spanner's own storage on the device and associated with that service record. It is not uploaded, not analysed, and not sent anywhere. Declining access does not stop you logging the service — the photo is optional.

Notifications
If you allow notifications, reminders are scheduled as local notifications by your iPhone itself. They do not pass through a server and there is no push service involved. Declining the permission changes nothing else; reminders still appear on the Due tab.

What Spanner does not collect
Spanner does not create an account, sync to a server, or upload your vehicles, service history, reminders or photos anywhere. It contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no crash reporting. Nothing is collected, transmitted, sold or shared with anyone.

Network use
The app is built to work fully offline. There is no backend behind it, so there is nowhere for your data to be sent even if you wanted to send it.

Exporting and sharing
Export produces a PDF or CSV of your service log on the device and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. Where it goes after that — mail, Files, another app — is your choice, made at that moment. Spanner does not send it anywhere on its own and keeps no copy beyond the log already on your phone.

Deleting your data
You can delete individual service records and reminders inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes its database and every receipt photo stored with it from the device. Either way, there is no copy anywhere else for anyone to delete.

Children
Spanner is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
