Quran Break
Quran Break
A calm vertical feed of Quran ayahs, one at a time.
Quran Break is a free, non-commercial iOS app built as an alternative to doomscrolling. It is the same swipe, on the same phone, with something else at the end of it: one ayah at a time, with the Arabic, a transliteration, the English translation and the recitation.
Availability
Quran Break is in TestFlight and is not on the App Store yet. There is no public download link to give you at the moment. If you would like to try the beta, email me and I will send you a TestFlight invite.
Two ways to read
Shuffle gives you a random ayah on every swipe, so you land somewhere you were not expecting. Start to end goes in order and resumes exactly where you left off, so you can work through the Quran a few ayahs at a time.
Every ayah, three ways
Each ayah shows the Arabic in Uthmani script, a scholarly English transliteration that handles long vowels, emphatic letters and sun letters properly, and the Saheeh International translation underneath.
Recitation you can hear
Any ayah can be played as recitation by Mishary Rashid Alafasy. Audio is cached on the device after the first play, so an ayah you return to does not need the network again.
Works offline
All 114 surahs are bundled inside the app, so the text, transliteration and translation are there with no connection at all. Audio is the only part that needs the network.
Save what you want to return to
Any ayah can be saved, so you can come back to it later without hunting for it again.
Free, and staying free
There are no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases. The English translation is licensed for non-commercial use, so the app cannot be sold or monetised. That constraint is the reason it will stay free.
Privacy
There is no account, no analytics and no server behind the app. Nothing about you is collected. Your reading position, saved ayahs and settings stay on your device.
Support
If something is broken, an ayah looks wrong, or you want a TestFlight invite, email me. That is the fastest way to reach me about this app.

- Is it really free?
- Yes, and it will stay that way. There are no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases. The English translation is licensed for non-commercial use, which is the reason the app cannot be sold.
- Where does the text come from?
- The Arabic text, transliteration and the Saheeh International translation come from the Tanzil Project. Recitation audio is streamed from EveryAyah.
